Will this be a reality in San Francisco?

Here’s a rendering of the new Transbay Terminal in downtown San Francisco:

Will this be the vision of the future in downtown San Francisco on an old structure that has outlived its usefulness? Here’s what it is replacing currently:

An old, Great Depression-era building that has seen its share of use over the past 70+ years when it was built in the 1930s. Wondering if the new terminal building, with all of its eco-friendly approaches to having a low impact on the environment, will be sustainable going forward. Do we even know what “sustainable” really means when we’re tearing down structures repeatedly within each century? The only thing that’s holding the test of time are old Victorians and Edwardians within the city. How much longer before they also get torn down to be replaced with a modern concrete structure?
